From Sarah Sheikh, SMAF Volunteer:

“Last summer a question was raised by an ALS family wishing to rent an ADA-accessible lakefront place in Michigan. There were none to be found on any short-term rental site. This ALS family planted a seed in my heart and 10 months later, it is now ready to bloom.”

Introducing the “Respite House” located on Turk Lake in Greenville.

The Respite House is lovingly dedicated in memory of my sister-in-law and best friend, Lea Anne Farhood, who lost her battle with ALS on April 16, 2021.

In keeping with the way Lea Anne lived, the Respite House is very cheerful. Hopefully, it will be enjoyed by ALS families and many sweet memories will be made.

If you are interested in staying at the Respite House, and you live in West Michigan, the Susan Mast ALS Foundation will cover the cost of your stay for up to 3 nights.  If you live outside of West Michigan, you are welcome to rent the respite house at a discounted price.  Please note, occupancy is limited to 4 people per stay and is strictly enforced.

A huge thank you to Sarah Sheikh for creating this opportunity for ALS families.
